Instead of having to wash first and then impregnate afterwards, Storm has developed a unique system that allows you to wash and impregnate in a single cycle. Place STORM CARE Wash in your washing machine just as you would with a detergent and STORM CARE Proof instead of a fabric softener. Set your machine according to the garment's label instructions. When the cycle is complete, simply dry your garment. The ability to wash and waterproof in a single wash cycle saves water, energy, time and our planet.
Technical garments have a membrane and DWR coating that ensures the garment performs at its highest level and does not absorb water or get wet. DWR performance can be reduced by dirt, sweat, grease, detergent and general use. Dirt and debris collect on the surface and in the microscopic pores of the fabric, which can reduce breathability and water repellency. Therefore, it is important to keep the garment clean to ensure it performs as intended.
Proper cleaning revitalises the fabric without damaging any active DWR treatment. The use of regular household detergents is not suitable for the care of technical outerwear, as it damages the DWR on the garment. They contain many compounds that are not beneficial to performance, such as bleaches, colour brighteners, enzymes and perfumes.
When a garment is new and only dirty, a simple clean may be all that is needed. However, an older garment may require a little more care as it loses its water-repellent properties over time, which can be easily restored with the addition of a waterproofing treatment.
